Motor Instruments (2024-)

Since 2024 I have been working on motorized instruments for installation works; in combination with visual and sculptural works.

"The concept is a machine that produces the work of art." (Sol LeWitt) The independent process, that which is decoupled from (direct) access, is not only found in the spirit of conceptual art, but literally in a machine art that has its own physics, produces physical things and translates them into metaphysics.
Installations install themselves; their character is ostensibly an active accessibility, but these are ambushes, the price of freedom of movement. The sound surrounds, the idea is a Trojan horse, the fourth wall is torn down by the recipient himself and in doing so he tears himself down.

Thunder Sheet Machine

Motorized thunder sheets in different sizes and materials (aluminum, steel, bronze, copper, zinc, silver) and thicknesses/densities. Work in progress, so far there is a prototype with a few sheets, for 2025 a long wall with up to 64 sheets will be built.

Motor Drum

Snare drum with 32 motorized sticks.

Motor Hihat

The principle of the motor drum, applied to the hi-hat (+ motor for the pedal). [Other implementations (large drum, different cymbal sizes, other drum types) planned.]

Wind Instruments

Composed wind; in the ear of the hurricane and the whisper, tamed-untamed nature.

Motor Mini Keyboards

Small keyboards with motorized hammers. Can be arranged in different numbers.

Seufzermaschine

Several CNC machines with super balls and mirrors. A set-up of 8 machines for 2025 (Witten Days for New Chamber Music).

Motor Flexatones

Ruminating Machine ("Grübelmaschine")

Fine thoughts and rough thoughts. Display cases with 3D-printed stones, paddle mills.
