Agenda

With L’Orfeo we enter the age of monodia, the solo voice with basso continuo accompaniment. In my piece Kontinuum mit Melodie (continuum with melody) I use parts of Monteverdi’s opera as media for a kind of timbre melody – with algorithmic distortions. This is a continuation of the idea Pierre Schaeffer uses in Bi-Lude, where segments of a prelude by Bach are changed electronically. The algorithms are cut very hard, in opposite to the identity of Monteverdi’s music. Thus, two rhythms compete against each other, lying the duration of 400 years between them.
